Algarve visitor satisfaction numbers are great

The Algarve visitor satisfaction has to be some of the highest possible considering it’s popularity. While it may be one of the most popular holiday destinations for Europeans, but that doesn’t mean that Europeans are the only visitors here, quite the contrary, and it appears that those tourists that come from Brazil show the highest satisfaction with their vacations in Portugal.
Or at least that’s what a recent ‘tourist satisfaction study’ released by Turismo de Portugal says. The overall level of tourist satisfaction is very high, stating that 34% of respondents enjoyed a holiday that was above their expectations, and a solid 85% percent of those asked said that they would certainly or probably return to Portugal within the next three years.
The Algarve hosted the World Travel Awards Europe Ceremony 2012

The Algarve has recently played host to the World Travel Awards (WTA) Europe Ceremony 2012, which drew in important representative from the continent’s finest travel brands.
The event also featured the WTA Europe Golf Classic tournament which was played on the region’s best championship course, and considering we’re talking about the Algarve here, that must’ve been quite a hard choice to make, but they set on the Quinta do Lago South Course.
Algarve toll fees update

We continue our coverage of the Algarve toll fees fiasco that we reported on yesterday with a bit of a late update. Ever since the October 1st, all the users of the former SCUT roads in Portugal – and this applies to the Algarve Via do Infante or A22 – will benefit from a reduction in toll fees. This was announced on September 30th, just before the exemption for Algarve residents that we talked about yesterday would expire.
The new, reduced, charges will apply to all users, with transport companies benefitting from an extra ten percent reduction during the day and a twenty-five percent reduction during night time.
A call to end the A22 toll from the Algarve tourism sector

Three major figures leading the Algarve tourism sector have recently called for the immediate suspicion of the very controversial toll charges on the A22 motorway – Via do Infante – one of them describing them as being a “gross economic, political and social error”.
Why has this not happened sooner? Well the protest was sparked by the decision of the Portuguese Government to not extend the exemption granted to residents beyond the end of September, even if by all accounts the tourism sector was on the whole expecting it.
Thinking of studying in the Algarve?

For those thinking of studying in the Algarve, there is an interesting phenomenon taking place in the Algarve University numbers, thanks to a combination of two important factors. The numbers of enrolling students is increasing both from local students as well as foreign ones, due to the economic crisis and the fact that the university offers lectures in English.
A spokesperson for the Algarve University said that they are expecting around 300 international students to come follow their courses, while less local students will be going abroad. This is largely due to the economic crisis, which is making universities abroad much harder to attend financially, so some foreign students find the Algarve University as a more affordable alternative, and on the local front, it means that going to study abroad for Portuguese students is that much harder.
Algarve Bird Watching Festival

The month of October is dedicated to nature lovers and especially bird watchers of the Algarve, because the Algarve Bird Watching Festival takes place from October 5th-7th.
The annual festival is in its third year and takes place in the town of Sagres, in the Western Algarve and it acts as one more incentive to visit the Algarve coast, which already sports plenty of attractive features for tourists, from the year-round warm temperatures, the great beaches and beautiful scenery.
