Celebrate Oktoberfest in the Algarve
Who says you can’t enjoy the revelry of Oktoberfest if you’re not in Germany? The beer garden Vila Vita Biergarten located in the Algarve has something to say about that indeed.
The Vila Vita Biergarten in Porches will be holding to the Oktoberfest celebration schedule, holding its own, obviously much smaller version of the festival, between the 28th of September and the 2nd of October.
Located just off the EN125 on the Porches roundabout, the very authentic Munich-style beer garden of Vila Vita offers the whole package of a German beer garden: the staff is clad in traditional costumes, there are vivid murals portraying scenes from Bavarian live and there’s even a maypole.
The place is obviously open year-round, but it is most lively during Oktoberfest when the music of every evening features the famous Munchner Gaudiblosn band, and there are special menus of German delicacies all throughout the week – not to mention the gallons upon gallons of beer from Paulaner, one of Munich’s most celebrated breweries.
The highlights of the Oktoberfest-influenced menu include the best that Bavaria has to offer, featuring traditional sausages with their authentic accompaniments, as well as Bavarian Sampler with pretzels, Obazda cheese spread, cold cuts, pickles and chive bread; alongside crunchy knuckle of pork with cabbage salad as well as traditional potato salad and one cannot look fast apple strudel.
Rest assured that the staff will be on hand to explain what all the traditional delicacies entail, and rest assured that you’ll be getting properly cooked as well as best quality meat because the establishment has an on-site butcher.
The place also features a children’s play area, so you can visit during the festival with the entire family, during the Oktoberfest mini-festival, the place will be open from 1PM to 10 PM with the band playing starting at about 7PM.
