Most awaited Algarve events in autumn 2014

The happy Algarve is still in full season, despite the fact that this summer has been one of the coolest in the last 20 years. Thousands of people come to the shores of the Atlantic to take part in the most awaited Algarve events in autumn 2014.

If the Germans have created a true tradition – which has gained international proportions – with its Oktober Fest, the Algarve has its own version: due to take place in Porches, Algarve, Oktoberfest 2014 at VILA VITA Biergarten, the Munich-style party is a faithful copy, with beer, dances and music – only with slightly warmer weather.

The first days of October will also be… exciting for the people in Sagres, as the Sagres Bird-watching Festival is preparing for its new edition. While the actual activity of bird-watching may seem to some a bit… static, there are many enthusiasts who actually find it fun, plus there are quite a few outdoorsy activities to look forward to.

Autumn in the Algarve also promises quite a few culinary events, such as the Sweet Potato Festival in Aljezur, where countless varieties of potatoes will be sold and eaten in a festivity that, as always, includes dance, music and alegria. The Culinary Masterclass at Gusto Restaurant with 3 Michelin star chef Heinz Beck. Cooking fanatics consider it a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the organizers promise a truly spectacular show. Another such event is the Gastronomy fortnight in Almancil, to which you are also warmly invited.

November might be a cold, rather boring time in central and northern Europe, but it still has sun in store in the Algarve, as Portimao hosts the São Martinho Fair in Portimão (between 7 and 16 November), a popular festival that dates back to the year 1662.

And to solve your transport issue, we suggest you look up a car hire in the Algarve or a private transfer in Faro. See you soon!
