Algarve forecasts a good summer season
After reporting the past couple of months about the rather hard times that the Algarve has been going through and the fact that it will most likely have to go through a few more bad high seasons, today we have a bit of good news because the Tourism Board has forecast a much better summer season for 2013.

We talk a lot about how wonderful of a holiday destination the Algarve is during the warm seasons, however today we’ll look a bit into visiting the Algarve during autumn and winter breaks, the decidedly not-so warm seasons.
The Algarve is amongst those holiday destinations that is popular not only during the summer but also during the winter, and that is due to quite a few reasons, one of them being the fact that it is located firmly on the European continent – which makes it relatively easier to visit from within the continent, and the fact that it features a lot of golf courses – but more on that later.
Algarve visitor satisfaction numbers are great
The Algarve visitor satisfaction has to be some of the highest possible considering it’s popularity. While it may be one of the most popular holiday destinations for Europeans, but that doesn’t mean that Europeans are the only visitors here, quite the contrary, and it appears that those tourists that come from Brazil show the highest satisfaction with their vacations in Portugal.
Or at least that’s what a recent ‘tourist satisfaction study’ released by Turismo de Portugal says. The overall level of tourist satisfaction is very high, stating that 34% of respondents enjoyed a holiday that was above their expectations, and a solid 85% percent of those asked said that they would certainly or probably return to Portugal within the next three years.

The city of Lagos, Portugal has had a very long and chequered history. Thanks to its large natural harbour the area has been settled and inhabited for many thousands of years, starting with the Phoenicians, then the Carthaginians, then of course the Romans and following them the Moors. Due to its important geographical location and harbour it acted as the capital of the Algarve region for about two hundred years between the 16th and the 18th century until it was severely damaged during the 1755 earthquake which caused the government to move its seat to nearby Faro.
