Algarve tourism businesses urged to stay open for the winter
Desiderio Silva – who has been re-elected as the head of the Algarve Tourism Board, and also former mayor of Albufeira – has appealed to all businesses related to the Algarve tourism sector to keep their ‘lights on’ during the winter as well so as to try to maintain the current momentum.

Not many people consider the Algarve as a winter destination, and that’s a very simple mistake to be made, after all the Algarve is great in the summer right?
Well while in the summer its high temperatures and warm waters definitely attract the most of its visitors, one should also be aware that during the winter season, while most of Europe is encased in rain, snow or ice, or all of them, the Algarve is still wonderfully sunny.

Algarve winter vacations are definitely a thing, because even during the coldest and harshest of ice storms in the temperate areas of Europe, the Algarve is still at least balmy, maybe not worthy of shorts, but definitely a warm destination.
The Algarve has long been a winter destination for many British holiday makers, but as global awareness of the region has increased, the region has started to see visitor from other parts of Europe visiting its beaches and waters during the winter season, because it is a relatively close-by destination.
