As promised, here we are with more info on Spanish destinations near Algarve. As we talked in a previous post, there are several advantages to planning your trip to the Algarve, one of them being the proximity of the Spanish border, which opens the option of visiting two countries instead of one during your holiday.
So here are more popular Spanish destinations to consider near the Portuguese border.
The hometown of “el burlador”, Don Juan, Seville is a place of wonder.It is a place emblematic of everything Spanish and one of the most well rated and popular destinations in Spain. Relatively close to Portugal (around 200 km from Faro, Portugal), Seville is an excellent choice for a day out of town – or out of country as the case may here be. You will be back “home” in the Algarve by nightfall if you leave early and you will enjoy a whole day of Spanish fiesta in a city recorded as UNESCO patrimony.
Islands are not a rare thing in the Mediterranean – nor by the shore of the Atlantic – so there is a variety of options. Only about half an hour away from the Portuguese frontier, there are a couple of amazing islands you should visit.
An important fishing port in Andalucia, Isla Cristina is a tiny wonder in the municipality of Huelva. Today, it is renowned as a seaside resort and welcomes thousands of tourists.
Even closer to the border, Isla Canela stretches by the mouth of the Guadiana River. Its increasingly more prominent tourist potential has made it a place for people to build hotels, resorts and also to settle here from the West, on its sandy silky shores.
The last important island we could suggest is the small Isla Antilla, close to the two others, which is another place you can go for refuge and quiet and to taste the true Spanish life.
Whatever your choices of vacation, both the Algarve Portugal and Aldalucia Spain must be on your list! And if you should fluctuate between the two, you can also rent a car in the Algarve and not have to choose.
