Dear friends, we are back with the 9 perfect tourist attractions to visit in Portugal this summer – Part 3 sees us going through the last three attractions of choice on our list. And today we go north, all the way to Porto and its surrounding areas, the sunny Douro Valley plains, where the hallmark Port wine is produced, and the small villages with cobblestone winding streets…

The North of Portugal is the industrial region, recognized as the richer and more somber side of the country. You can travel here easily with a Porto airport transfer. You can also travel from there to the other corners of the country should you like to lodge in the north during your stay.

7. Porto has a lot of mainstream sites to boast with, but also a lot of hidden, secret and wonderful sites, such as the Lello Bookstore, dubbed the most beautiful library in the world. Any bookworm traveling around the Globe should go there for a cup of coffee and a good book to browse through.

8. If you want to rent a car in Porto, you can afford to travel outside the city as well. In this case of figures, you should take a ride to Vila Nova de Gaia. the “barcos rabelos” accosted in the harbor make for a colorful and idyllic landscape. A trip top this typically northern-Portuguese town can serve as a perfect city break option.

9. And here we are, at the end of our list. What should our last Portuguese suggestion be? Can we end our list so soon? First off, you must remember these are just mere suggestions, the list doesn’t really ever end. So here it is: Cais da Ribeira, a labyrinth of winding streets and narrow alleys facing the beautiful riverfront of the majestic Douro River.

Have a great time in Portugal this summer!

We have finally come to the essential: Part 2 of the 9 perfect tourist attractions to visit in Portugal this summer brings us to the seaside, the sunny, brilliant, shimmering shores of the Algarve.

The southern part of Portugal is called the Algarve. It is the most beautiful and bright area and also home to some of the most outstanding samples of inter-culturality, as it witnessed the rise and fall of several empires and rules, from the Roman to the Christian, to the Moorish and back to the Portuguese victory of the Reconquista. Good: so what can we visit here?

4. Faro is the capital city of the Algarve. It is also one of the most beautiful and economically prominent sites in Portugal. Cidade Velha is the compact and extremely romantic old town center of Faro, reminiscent of centuries old gone. Larga da Se is the core of the quarter, dominated by the silhouette of the old cathedral.

Of course, Faro is not just the old center. The harbor is a beautiful picturesque spot as well and not to mention the Museu do Marítimo Almirante Ramalho Ortigão, which tells a beautiful tale about the maritime history of Portugal and the Algarve.

5. Lagos is our next recommendation for your Algarve trip. You can stay there for a week or more for very accessible rates. It is big enough to have a city feel and everything you need at the tip of your fingers and small enough to be cozy and authentically Portuguese. You can go to Lagos car rental and benefit from the best transport option: a car all ready for you for your trip.

6. Last (for today), but certainly not least, is Silves, one of the most scenic and picturesque towns in the Algarve. The Medieval Festival of Silves is an event that attracts thousands of people from all around the world, eager to have fun and remember the wonderful past with melancholy.

Summer is here and it is the very best time to be in Portugal, by the ocean, drinking a cocktail and reading a good book on the rocky beaches. Today we give you 10 Places not to miss in Portimao, a city that in itself is not to be missed if you are ever in the sunny and shiny Algarve.

Praia da Rocha is the most famous and transited beach in Portimao. It offers some of the most staggering views of the Atlantic Ocean, bordered by the dramatic cliffs that dominate the sea landscape of the Algarve.

The Portimao Museum is an award-winning cultural establishment, one that harbors some of the most famous archeological relics in the entire Algarve. It is a destination not to miss. I know I, for one, never leave a town without visiting a museum, so this is my recommendation for the day.

Canico Restaurant is a place to visit to satiate your hunger. You can enjoy the local delicacies in a wonderful ambient, surrounded by the wonderfully scenic landscapes of the sea (actually – never forget: the Atlantic Ocean)!

TEMPO might mean “time” in Portuguese. But it also stands for Teatro Municipal de Portimão, the local theatre, where you can see some of the best reenactments of modern and classical plays alike.

The best sightseeing spot in Portimao is the Portimao Marina. It is the place where everyone comes to take a picture (or a boat). It is also the place where old and young people alike can come to take their first surf lessons. And let’s not forget that Portugal is one of the best places where you can practice this sport

If you need a lift, you can rent a car in Portimao and the best thing is you will get a very good rate if you know where to look. (Start by looking online, actually).

The golf season in Algarve is on! Spring is probably the best time to practice golf: picture an endless green field surrounded by the blue waters of the Atlantic, the mild wind from the ocean gently caressing your face; and you bending over just a bit, focusing your attention on the white golf ball, ready to hit it with the perfectly chosen club.

Golf is more exciting and surprising, spectacular and interesting than you would imagine and, as we’d started saying last time, the sunny shore of southern Portugal provides some of the most exquisite golf courses in the world. They are all open and it is during spring that they welcome the most guests.

Spring is a good time to practice sports in Portugal. As an outdoors activity, golf is best practiced in good weather and with its more than 300 days of sun, Portugal is definitely the place to go for a warm and mild respite.

Here are also some of the best places to practice your favorite sport:

Albufeira, one of the most beautiful and welcoming resorts in the Algarve, awaits visitors galore every year. It is also, as it happens, one of the hottest golfing destinations, providing golf facilities at the highest levels. Here are just a few of the best courses in town: Pinta, Gramacho and the wonderful O’Connor. Albufeira is also a very pleasant place to visit, so you won’t get bored sightseeing and shopping here.

Faro, the capital city of the Algarve and a great economic hub in Portugal, also offers some of the best golfing facilities in the region and is, of course, conveniently situated being very close to the airport. With Faro golf transfers, you can get a car and driver to drive you from the city to the golf course of choice and back.

Dear friends in love with 2 things: Algarve, Portugal and golf, we have great news for you. The golf season in Algarve is on!

The sunny shores of southern Portugal are always looking forward to welcoming visitors, be it for sunbathing and fun on the rocky or sandy beaches of the popular resorts here or for one of the most popular activities to be performed here: golf!

Spring is an excellent season to practice golf, especially in a warm country with mild weather, like Portugal.

Golf is practiced everywhere in the Mediterranean region and around the European side of the Atlantic Ocean shores. Spain and Portugal are hot golfing destinations, with an emphasis necessarily to be put on the southern region of Portugal, the Algarve. Here, you will find not only the best golf courses in Europe, but some of the most outstanding venues to practice your favorite sport in the world!

Some of the best golf courses in the Algarve have already opened their gates to visitors and players. They usually include full service resorts, capable of catering to all the needs and requirements of their golf-playing guests. Vilamoura is one of the hottest Portuguese golf destinations. Millennium, Victoria and The Old Course are probably the most sought-after venues out there.

There are also services particularly tailored for golfers. First thing: if you are to golf, you are going to need the gear. If you are coming to Portugal from abroad, you will probably be coming over by plane. This might be a problem, since there are airplane companies that might restrict the cargo of golf clubs. Still, you are definitely going to need them here. So you needn’t despair: you can go to the Faro airport golf club hireoffice straight at the airport and pick up your clubs for the holiday. There is a single detail you should remember: you have to book them online or by phone in advance, because availability is limited, especially during the high season.

Did you know golf is one of the most popular sports in Portugal? In fact, the sunny shores of the southern part of the country are the some of the welcoming regions to play the sport and there are thousands of players from all over the world who flock to play some good old Algarve golf.

Here are some more general fun considerations about golf:

Did you know there are 18 holes in a typical, regular golf course? On the other hand, 336 dimples lay scattered around a normal golf ball! Cool, huh?

Did you know what a “triple bogye” is? If not, we’ll tell you: three shots on a hole over par. Golf has its own slang!

You might have also heard of a “birdie”. That one comes from American golfer Ab Smith who, while playing in 1899, coined the word “bird of a shot” – later to become “birdie”.

Did you know Celine Dion plays golf? She might be renowned for her unique, beautiful voice, but that doesn’t make her less of a golfer. Not only does she play golf, but Celine also owns a golf course in Quebec, Terrebonne.

Did you know that golf is an olympic sport? Yes, as of 2016, golf has been integrated in the Olympic Games competitions.

And now, back to your favorite place to play golf, a sunny, beautiful Portuguese realm called the Algarve:

Did you know you can get golf clubs from rental in Algarve? Those of you who have traveled by plane to play golf abroad know how tricky it can be to transport your own golf clubs. But fortunately there are services especially tailored for this purpose.

Besides, there are also transport options available, such as Algarve golf transfers, to take you to and from your golf course of choice.

From a romantic Valentine’s Day in Portugal we got to explore some of the most wonderful corners of this beautiful country. It might be interesting to remind that February is a pleasant month in Portugal.

While the rest of Europe still struggles with the cold and the snow, Lisbon and Porto and the ever sunny Algarve are already experiencing spring-like weather and a bright sun in the last month of winter. So if you are searching for a last-minute deal in a beautiful warm place in Europe to take your loved one on Lover’s Day, Portugal just might be the place for you.

And if we still haven’t convinced you so far, we will today! Because we talk about a couple of really beautiful places under the yellow Portuguese sun.
Number one is the beautiful medieval and universitary town of Coimbra. It is bisected by the Rio Mondego and at night, under the pale electric light, it still shines in a specter of bright colors and takes your breath away. It is one of the most scenic places in Portugal and it is a place steeped in history, home to a five century old university, the greatest in the country.

But as you might imagine, Coimbra is much more than a simple university town. It is a wonderful romantic destination and to convince you, here are just a few of the activities you can enjoy here:
Boat trip on the lovely river under the moonlight;
For a “geeky” kind of love – and let’s admit it, this is so cute – you can go for a visit to the Museu Nacional Machado de Castro, the history and art museum of town.

A kiss among the relics of the old Moorish part of town.

Could this be the place for you? You can definitely find out! And you can get there from Lisbon with a Lisbon car rental.

Lover’s Day is approaching, so candlelit dinners and dozens of roses are in store for conventional youngsters in love. But for more imaginative and experienced people, a trip is the best solution to keep the flame of love burning as bright as ever. A romantic Valentine’s Day in Portugal is what we had in mind for today.

Portugal boasts with one of the proudest legacies in Europe. Vastly forgotten today for its role in the great Age of Discoveries, its beautiful lands and its beautiful people still remind you that you are in a very special place every moment you spend there.

And number one on the list of Portuguese tourist attractions is the sunny wonderful shores of the Algarve. The seaside, southern region of Portugal attracts thousands of local, but especially foreign visitors every year basically year-round. Winters are mild, so even though we’re not talking sunbathing and swimming in the ocean in February, the Algarve is also “visitable” in the low season.

One of the most inspiring places to pull out that ring and get down on one knee is the wonderfully romantic Benagil beach in the vicinity of Carvoeiro. The attraction of the beach is a dome-like cave carved naturally from the cliffs, with an aperture that lets the sun stream in and shine over the ocean-bathed golden fine sand of the beach. You can also get a Carvoeiro car rental at an affordable price during this time of the year. Just a thought, I imagine few girls would find bus rides romantic.

And here’s another truly romantic spot for all those wanting to run away from the routine and crowds: the secluded and utterly charming hamlet of Cacela Velha. Don’t be put off by its size: Cacela Velha has history as old as time, reminding you of the Roman and Moorish occupations, but preserving the utter Portuguese essence.

The sunny shore of the Portuguese side of the Atlantic Ocean is an unexpected, but utterly lovely place to spend the winter season, especially if you are looking for a blessed warm corner where you can escape the cold and gloom of chilly, snowy winter days.

Here are therefore 5 Reasons to spend Christmas in Algarve.

Reason # 1: The weather is lovely in the Algarve, making its sandy whitewashed shores a perfect year-round destination. Even in winter, the weather is mild and sunny and temperatures rarely go below 10 degrees Celsius, with averages of around 16-18 degrees Celsius.

Reason # 2: You are setting yourself for a beautiful traditional Christmas. Like all Catholic countries, Portugal loves giving a laic and personal touch to all religious celebrations. Christmas is the most important celebration in Christianity, so all the elements that make the season bright and cosy will be present. Among others, don’t forget to ask for some “Bolo Rei”, the traditional, sweet Christmas Cake.

Reason # 3: The Portuguese are among the most welcoming people. Without being extremely open or imposing their style or presence on you as a tourist, the Portuguese are the perfect mixture of quiet kindness and hospitality. They will make you feel at home and want to return.

Reason # 4: The Algarve is an outstanding family destination. You can take your kid to the Marina in Faro or to Zoomarine in Albufeira and spend some family quality time there together.

Reason # 5: Algarve is a very accessible destination, particularly outside of the months of high season. You can find lodgings, Faro airport transfers and Lagos car hire options online for really low rates. Only one pro tip worth mentioning, though: it is best to book everything online as soon as possible, because availability is still limited, even in low season during Christmas time.
