The summer is still young and there are plenty of places to visit and many things to enjoy, so take advantage of the beautiful weather and visit the beautiful city of Faro.

Faro is a municipality and the southernmost city and seat of the district of the same name, in the Algarve region of southern Portugal.

Once you have arrived in the sunny Faro, you cannot miss Cidade Velha (the Old City), where you can admire the splendid architectural styles, result of numerous earthquakes and British bombardments, the fascinating cobbled streets, as well as the picturesque atmosphere whom you will fall in love with. You’ll also find a sprinkling of cafes and bars, within O’Castelo. This is not just a bar, café and restaurant, they also stage a range of cultural events and club nights in their courtyard.

For history lovers, the Faro Municipal Museum is the perfect corner to be delighted with many interesting stories, unique exhibits and marvellous collections. The Faro Municipal Museum was established in 1894 and it resides in a 16th century building of the former Convent of Our Lady of the Assumption. A collection of 17th and 19th century artwork from Portuguese, Italian and Spanish painters are on display along with sacred artifacts from churches in the region.

Definitely one of the most beautiful places to go to is Ria Formosa Natural Park, described as one of the Portugal’s ”Seven Wonders”, formed of salt pans, lagoons and barrier islands. These islands protect the region from the powerful seas, while also providing some of the quietest and most scenic beaches of the Algarve. A boat tour is a great way to discover the region, with its thriving marine ecosystem, unspoilt beaches, and rich fishing heritage.

Previously known as Pousada de Faro, the famous Palace of Estoi was built in the 19th century by the Viscount of Estoi, a wealthy and tasteful man who created a beautiful neo-rococo family home with superb French style gardens resembling to Versailles, including statues and exotic flora. The interior is now a luxury hotel, but non-residents are free to wander the grounds and enjoy a coffee with a view on the balcony of the restaurant.

Last, but not the least, the Arco da Vila is Faro’s fine neo-classical archway entrance to the Algarve city’s old quarter (Cidade Velha). Some of its walls are Moorish in foundation but the structure has an Italianate, Neo-Classical appearance, thanks to a project led by Bishop Francisco Gomes in the 19th century.

You cannot miss these beautiful places, surrounded by charm and history, so wonderfully preserved!

Enjoy the most beautiful moments of your holidays with your family and friends, always counting on Faro Low Cost Transfers, which guarantee high services transfers in the best conditions!

With such a hot summer, we are also expecting a warm autumn (although we do hope for the weather to be mild and sunny instead of burning hot). So we thought we’d remind you that it’s time to think of this year’s season of golf in the Algarve.

Golf is one of the most popular sports in southern Portugal and this is easily understandable if you think of the over 300 days of summer the country boasts with, of the warm climate and the great landscapes which make for some golf courses with breathtaking views over the endless ocean. So this will be a pretty heavenly place to play golf and relish in the sun at the same time.

The Algarve, the seaside region of Portugal, takes pride in its world renowned amazing golf courses. Not only are there clubs and golf courses to speak of, but there is also an entire industry revolving around the sport.

With just a little bit of research online, you can find you can book golf clubs in Faro Airport and that there is a special type of transport option especially designed for golders, Algarve golf transfers meant to transport you and your group, with golf clubs and bags and all to and from the golf course virtually throughout the region.

The English brought the passion for golf to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean a couple of hundred years ago and created the first clubs and built the first courses.

So in case you were wondering which are the best golf courses in the Algarve, we’ve prepared a list for you as well: Algarve Golf, Salgados, Vale do Lobo Royal Ocean, Morgado, Benamor, Pine Cliffs, The Old Course and Silves. In Silves, there is also a great medieval festival in August, so you might like to check out the option of stopping by.

What to do in the Algarve this August 2018? Here’s a question with a complex answer: it all depends on where you are going to be spending your time on the sunny shores of the Portuguese litoral region.

But regardless of your destination of choice, please be sure Portugal will always be a really worthwhile place to spend a memorable, amazing holiday.

If you love Portugal and music, you should really book your pass for the Summer Sound Portimao music festival meant to offer two amazing unforgettable electro music festival days between August 17th and 18th 2018. NoSoloAgua will host the first edition of this festival meant to bring music, fun and the seaside atmosphere together in an unforgettable mix. In case you were wondering about the artists who are going to be meeting you there, the names include The Avener, Henri PFR, Ofenbach, Mercer, Tony Romera and Damien N-DRIX.

In case you are lodged in the capital of Algarve or its surroundings, don’t worry: Portimao is a short drive away and you have a couple of trusty transport options to consider. For one, you can rent a car in the Algarve. Otherwise, you can opt for a Faro airport transfer to Portimao to have a luxury car and an experienced driver at your service for a safe and swift trip around the Algarve coast.

Portimao has also become really quite popular throughout the last quarter of a century because of its August Sardine Festival. This year we are getting ready to celebrate the 24th edition of this campy and happy event that celebrates the fishing history of the town and the coast, as well as the way you can bring people together with such a happy event.

If there is one thing the Portuguese are great at, that is having a good time and making people feel really welcome in their country.

Portugal is one of the most welcoming countries I have ever visited and I think any summer can shine happier if you take at least a week or two to visit the sunny shores of the southern side of the country. With this in mind, I set out in search of a few of the most exciting events to brighten your days there. What to do in the Algarve this August 2018? Here are a few ideas:

Our first stop today is in Albufeira. This lovely tourist resort is one of the most prominent towns on the Algarve coast. There are a couple of events that are bound to mark the last month of summer in town. The Festa da Nossa Senhora da Orada (which translates into “The Festival of Our Lady of the Oracle”) is celebrated on August 14th. This is the day when the patron saint of fishermen is honored with a lovely procession that follows the mass at Igreja Matriz. The procession continues up to the beach, where fishermen honor the saint and then return merrily to the church. The procession is definitely not the only thing to look forward on this day. The celebration is also marked by a town fair and fireworks in the town center.

How to get to Albufeira? Well, if you are lodged in the Algarve, you can always book an Albufeira private transfer and benefit from a private transport option for you and your group.

The second memorable day to celebrate this August in Albufeira is the Municipal Holiday which is scheduled for the 20th of the month. Sports events and a lot of fun, as well as firework shows and a loot of good cheer can be counted among the things to look forward to.
